Linear's pricing is short: Free, Basic at $10, Business at $16 per user a month billed yearly, and Enterprise at a custom price with annual billing only. The page we read showed only the yearly-billed figures, so check the monthly toggle yourself. What the headline prices leave out is the second meter: coding sessions and Loops run on AI credits, billed by usage rather than per seat. Here is what each plan includes and how the credits work.
1. Free and Basic
Free allows unlimited members but 2 teams, 250 issues and 10MB file uploads, and still includes the agent platform, MCP access and Linear Agent, plus import and export, the API and webhooks. Basic, at $10 per user a month billed yearly, lifts issues and uploads to unlimited, allows 5 teams, and adds admin roles, Loops, guided reviews and third-party app management. The 250-issue cap is the line most growing teams cross first.
2. Business and Enterprise
Business, at $16 per user a month billed yearly, adds unlimited teams, private teams and guest accounts, Triage and Code Intelligence, Insights, issue SLAs, Linear Asks intake from Slack and email, and the Zendesk and Intercom integrations. Enterprise adds SAML and SCIM, the audit log, IP restrictions, domain claiming, HIPAA compliance, dashboards, an uptime SLA and invoice or PO billing. Every plan signs in with Google; SAML is Enterprise only.
3. The AI Credit Balance
Linear says its AI features are included in the plan except coding sessions and Loops, which are billed on actual usage from a shared AI credit balance held in US dollars. Coding sessions bill model tokens at provider-published rates with no markup, plus $0.25 per 20-minute sandbox block. Typical Loop runs without a coding session cost $0.07 to $0.20. Only admins add credits: top-ups start at $10, automatic reload at $50, funds expire 12 months after purchase, and failed or retried runs are billable for the resources they used. Agents themselves are not counted as billable seats.
4. What a 12-Person Team Pays
At 12 people, Basic billed yearly is $120 a month and Business $192, before any AI credits. If you need guests or private teams, Business is the real price. Kavanah bills one seat at a time: Basic is $3 a seat a month ($2 billed yearly), $36 a month for 12 people, with 100 AI credits per seat pooled across the workspace, and Pro is $6 ($4 yearly) with 250. Kavanah meters every AI action in credits worth about a cent each, and Pay as you go drops the seat fee entirely, with credits in packs from $10 per 1,000.
5. Budget Both Meters
Linear's seat price is predictable; the credit balance depends on how much code your agents write. Before you commit, run a month of coding sessions on a small balance with spend limits set in Settings, Usage and limits, and read the usage dashboard. The same advice applies to any tool that meters AI, including ours: in Kavanah, anything that runs on its own or spends credits is off until you turn it on.
Linear's plans are easy to read; the variable part is AI usage. For how Linear's plans compare with Kavanah, Jira and ClickUp on price, time tracking and agents, see our Linear alternative page.
