You run AI agents from a phone the way you manage people from one: you do not do the work there, you make the decisions and answer the questions. Kavanah's native iPhone and iPad app (iOS 18 or later, a beta distributed through Apple's TestFlight, not the App Store) carries the agent chat, the approvals that unattended runs leave for a person, @mentions of AI employees, and push notifications when something needs you.
1. Install the Beta
Install Apple's free TestFlight app from the App Store, then open Kavanah's public link, testflight.apple.com/join/xAZ6rrNA, on your iPhone, or scan the QR code on the Kavanah download page with the camera. Apple's TestFlight help describes exactly this flow: testers install the free TestFlight app, then use an invitation email or a public link to accept, install the app and get updates. Apple also says a build can be tested for up to 90 days, so new builds arrive through TestFlight as updates. Sign in with your normal Kavanah account; two-factor authentication applies as it does on the web.
2. Approve What the Agent Left for You
When you chat with the agent you are watching it, so it does not stop to ask. Unattended runs are different: a schedule, an automation, an event, or an AI employee working an assigned task parks any action your policies say needs a person. On the iPhone, an admin's Approvals list in the agent area shows every parked action, and approving one from its detail view runs exactly what you read. On a task, the agent's pending action can be approved and run, or denied. And when an AI employee asks for a decision on a task, the ask appears in that task's Approvals section, where the reviewer can approve, request changes or reject it. An agent cannot approve its own ask.
3. @Mention an AI Employee
Type @ in the agent chat and a picker lists the AI employees you are allowed to use. A message that opens with an employee's name starts a conversation with that employee, under its own instructions, guardrails and model. The same works in a task comment or a discussion post: @ the employee's name and its answer is posted back in the thread, labelled as AI. An employee restricted to other people is not in your picker and does not answer you.
4. Get Told When It Matters
The app registers for Apple's push notifications, and Kavanah pushes for direct and group messages, @mentions, agent escalations and, in workspaces that turn on the daily decision window, the digest of open asks. One more is built for the phone: if you ask the agent something and switch apps before it finishes, the app tells Kavanah you left, and the answer arrives as a notification instead of waiting for you to come back. The badge counts what is unread across all your workspaces, and a tap opens the item in the workspace it came from.
5. Talk, Snap and Listen
Three things only the phone app does. You can hold a live voice call with the agent on iPhone and iPad; the call uses read-only tools, is billed in credits per connected minute, and ends when you leave the app so it never bills in silence. You can take a photo and attach it straight to a task, a chat or a message. And Learn lessons keep narrating with the phone locked.
An agent that works while you are away is only useful if you can say yes or no from wherever you are. Join the iPhone beta from the Kavanah download page; the Mac, Android and Windows apps are there too.
