Tell Kavanah what each person is good at and it will recommend — and optionally auto-assign — tasks to the best-matched teammate. Skills are drawn from a fixed, categorized vocabulary so they stay consistent across the workspace, and members can add their own custom skills on top.
Skills are organized into six categories — Engineering, Design & Creative, Content & Marketing, Data & Research, Product & Delivery, and Business & Operations — roughly forty skills in all (Frontend, Backend, DevOps, Design, Copywriting, SEO, Sales, Finance, and so on). Anything not covered can be added as a custom skill— free text like "Salesforce" or "C++". Each skill a member declares carries a proficiency level — Learning, Proficient, or Expert— that weights how strongly they're recommended for matching work. Task skill-tagging (and therefore auto-routing) uses the fixed vocabulary; custom skills inform the AI agent's recommendations and show as chips on the People page.
Open the Peoplepage (under the Workspace group in the sidebar), open a member's Edit Member modal, toggle their skills with a proficiency level for each, and click Save Changes. Members can declare their own under Profile → Skills & Experience. Declared skills never get pushed below the level you set — Kavanah can only raise a strength as it learns, never lower your baseline.
create_task accepts an auto-assign flag that infers the needed skills and assigns the top match.
