Time Tracking
Track time against a project and, optionally, a task. Entries are written ledger-style — hours, a narrative of the work, billable or not — so they can go straight onto an invoice.
Ways to log time
- Timer on a task — open the task and click Start Timer, then Stop Timerwhen you finish. Starting another timer stops the first one. A running timer shows on the card and on the Dashboard's Time Tracker card. Only the task's assignees (and admins) can time it.
- Manual entry — on the Dashboard, open the Time Tracker card's Entries tab and click Log time.
- Ask the agent— “log 2 hours on the typography task”.
The sidebar's Time page is for planning your time rather than logging it: its Plan, Capture, Focus and Insights tabs suggest the next best task (with Start / Stop), size a Pomodoro to the task, batch notifications, and show a weekly mirror of where the hours went.
Anatomy of a time entry
- Project (required) and Task ID (optional).
- Start, plus either Hours or an End time. Hours takes decimals or clock form: 0.3 = 18 minutes, 1:30 = 1.5 hours. When Hours is filled in, End is ignored.
- Work done (appears on the bill) — the narrative of what you did. An entry with a narrative gets its own invoice line.
- Billable — separates internal effort from invoice-ready work.
- Hourly rate (optional) — overrides the project or client default rate for this entry.
Each entry row has Edit entry, Split entry across tasks (break one block into several billable lines, each with its own hours, task and narrative, then Split into N — stop the timer first) and Delete entry. The minimum billing increment (0.1 h, 10 minutes, 0.25 h or 1 minute) and rounding are a workspace setting under Settings → Workspace → Time billing increment.
Reports
In Reports, generate the Time Tracking report from the Overview tab, or open the Charts tab, pick Time Tracking and group it by Project, Member or Task. Export the result with Export CSV or Export PDF.
An entry that has been put on an invoice is locked: it shows an Invoiced badge and cannot be edited, split or deleted. To change it, open Clients → the company → Intelligence → Billing and click Unbill first.
